From the screenplay. GRAPHIC: AUGUST 23, 1974. FALL. NARRATOR (V.O.): A boy and a girl suspended in time. The perfect summer with the perfect girl in the perfect setting. (beat) Of course, time never actually does suspend. But, I thought if I refused to accept it, it actually could. After all, if midnight never comes, if it’s held off forever, nobody turns back into a pumpkin.
